9th EPTA IRELAND PIANO FESTIVAL

Online festival 29/30 May 2021

We are delighted to announce that the Ninth EPTA Ireland Piano Festival, which was cancelled due to Covid in 2020, will now take place online 29/30 May.

Closing date for entries has been extended to 26th May.

Our adjudicator is Mary Beattie of Cork School of Music.

A native of Co. Monaghan, Mary Beattie began teaching piano after receiving an Honours B. Mus. from University College, Cork. In the early part of her teaching career, she spent two years teaching at Maynooth University, where she gained valuable experience in third-level teaching. Most of her work, more than forty years in total, has been at the Cork School of Music (now part of MTU). Her early education at St. Louis Convent, Carrickmacross, developed her love of music. Participation in choral and orchestral rehearsals was always inspiring and enjoyable. She remains indebted to Sr. Jacinta and to Sr. Marie Christine for nurturing an appreciation of music in these formative years. Her third-level education took place at University College, Cork, and the Cork School of Music, with the benefit of wonderful teachers including Professor Fleischmann and Christopher Stembridge at UCC; Bernard Curtis, Bridget Dolan, Jan Cap at the Cork School of Music, and later Prof. Watson in Maynooth and Ruth Harte in London. In her student years, Mary won many prizes locally and nationally. She combined teaching with performance for many years, with chamber music.
