13th EPTA IRELAND PIANO FESTIVAL

28-30 March 2025

 

We are delighted to announce that we will be returning to the National Concert Hall for this year’s EPTA Festival. This year we mark the thirteenth event and it will take place in the Kevin Barry Recital Room and in the Studio over three days from 28-30 March. We are honoured that Liezl-Marét Livingstone has agreed to be our adjudicator for this event.

Coakley Fuller Prize

This award will be presented for the best performance of a piece from the Baroque Era throughout the Piano Festival

EPTA Cup

Will be presented for the best overall performance throughout the Piano Festival

ENTRY FEE APPLICABLE FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

  • €26.50 – standard entry fee (includes online booking fee)
  • €21.50 – for students of EPTA members (includes online booking fee)
  • Entries will open on 1st February

Competitions

1. SOLO

With separate competitions for each year

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes
Repertoire: 1 piece of own choice
Maximum duration 3 minutes

First, Second and Third Years
Repertoire: 1 piece of own choice
Maximum duration 5 minutes

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Years
Repertoire: 1 piece of own choice
Maximum duration 8 minutes

2. CONTEMPORARY IRISH MUSIC

Junior Competition

First Prize €25
Open to all pianists in fourth, fifth and sixth class
1  work of own choice from CMC Catalogue   (by a living composer or written since 1950)
Maximum duration 3 minutes

Intermediate Competition

First Prize €50                                                       Open to all pianists in first, second and third year
1 work of own choice from CMC Catalogue (by a living composer or written since 1950)
Maximum duration 5 minutes

Senior Competition

First Prize €100                                                    Open to all pianists in fourth, fifth and sixth year
1 work of own choice from CMC Catalogue (by a living composer or written since 1950)    Maximum duration 8 minutes

3. PIANO DUET

Junior Piano Duet

Open to all pianists in fourth, fifth and sixth class

Repertoire:  1 piece of own choice  Maximum duration 3 minutes

Intermediate Piano Duet

Open to all pianists in first, second and third year

Repertoire:  1 piece of own choice  Maximum duration 5 minutes

Senior Piano Duet

Open to all pianists in fourth, fifth and sixth year

Repertoire:  1 piece of own choice  Maximum duration 8 minutes

Competitions Rules and Regulations

  • Competitions are open to students of EPTA members and non-EPTA members.
  • All entries must be fully completed for the application to be processed. 
  • No overlap of repertoire is permitted.
  • Changes to the chosen piece are not permitted.
  • Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Participants will be notified of the date and time of the competition entered by email.
  • The decision of the adjudicator is final.
