Sunday 3rd April, Sandford Church, Ranelagh. 3-5 pm
Conor Linehan has a foot in many camps. As well as being a classical pianist and composer he often works as a jazz and improvising pianist. This variety of disciplines gives him a singular perspective on improvising for classical pianists – a skill which seems quite forbidding for many of them. Conor will talk about overcoming the psychological barriers to improvisation, as well as discussing modes and the reading and voicing of chord charts. He hopes that this informal talk might open a range of fresh creative possibilities for classical pianists and teachers alike.
